    Getting Over the FFT

    Getting Over the FFT

The f*****g first time, as coined by Brene Brown, is the discomfort and awkwardness of doing something the first time. What sucks is that we’re taught, especially as women, that we’re expected to do everything with mastery and perfection the first time - without ever having tried it. But, these FFTs are part of life, especially if we’re going to things differently.
What is a fuck yeah life? It’s a life that you fantasize about, that looks very different from the one you have now.
A little over a year ago, I quit my 25-year career in the arts and started my new life. I had been successful by many societal measures, but I was miserable. I was getting more physically ill by the day. So, I cashed in my assets and went out on my own. I couldn’t find anyone to help me figure out how to do it, so I created it myself.
Here are the major principles of the Fuck Yeah Living. If it isn’t a full “fuck yeah,” it’s a “hell no!”
Be yourself. Let yourself rest. We can’t make good life decisions from a place of crisis.Learn to listen to you.Find your purpose and what lights you the fuck up.Do you for you. Be ambitious for yourself.A F**k Yeah life isn’t a destination; it’s a mindset, an action, and a commitment to yourself.Check your expectations. They cause you suffering.Learn to distinguish your thoughts and beliefs from facts.Find the frame that works the best for you and moves you forward.
Live and believe in your Fuck Yeah self. We all deserve to live a life in which we feel agency and purpose and joy. It’ll take a lot of work on ourselves but it’s completely worth it.

    My Heroine's Journey

    My Heroine's Journey

In a hero’s journey, the hero has to finally admit that they have to go accept the challenge. My heroine’s journey begins after a year in isolation in a new city. In March of 2021, I had the painful realization that I had been in the same situation too many times before. Others in a higher place of authority, usually women, come to some sort of conclusion about me or my work and decide they need to sit me down, tell me everything that’s wrong with me and how they’re going to manage things from here on out. Simply put, the problem usually was that I am not gifted at reading minds and there were many situations in which I had to essentially read minds, understand unstated expectations, and perform them flawlessly.
In a series of new jobs, in a new town, isolated and without any kind of local support, my body was responding to the constant stress. In an effort to get the respect I wanted, I made an ambitious plan to be so amazing at my job that no one could argue. Flawless, right? Surprisingly, my plan didn’t work. I told myself a story that I was not a good person and that I had to prove my worthiness and lovability by what I could do for other people.
In this episode I’ll talk through how I unraveled and unpacked all that for myself.
Disproving the “impossible” tasksThe “joy and flow” inventoryWhat really lights you the fuck up?Processing the grief around losing the life you thought you wanted
Listen to your rumbling and really listen to yourself. Your dreams may not turn out the way you think they will, but they may turn out better. I created my coaching program for people like me. If your story feels like mine, then maybe my coaching program is for you.

    Is This Really It?

    Is This Really It?

Think of a time when you waited and saved and called in something you truly wanted with all your heart, and when it came, your heart sank because it was just disappointing. Is your life like that? Are you looking at your life thinking, “is this it?” Reminding yourself to be grateful for what you do have, but secretly devastated?
Some people call it a midlife crisis - I like to call it midlife liberation. I had been addicted to the chase of finding a new job, getting a new degree to get the new job, if I just worked hard enough the best thing was just around the corner.
There were some beliefs holding me there.
My work was my worth.I had to defer joy. Happiness would come if hard work was prioritized first.I had to care for others first.Work was my purpose, and that was supposed to be fulfilling to me.I must pay my dues to pass to the next level where I was allowed to be happy.
Does any of that sound familiar? You can change your external circumstances all you want, but if you don’t look inward for true transformation you’ll never find what you’re looking for.
So, where do we go from here? That’s exactly what my clients ask, and exactly what I’ll cover in this episode.

Finding The Support You Need For Big Change

Finding The Support You Need For Big Change

Creating your own F**k Yeah Life requires big change and unfortunately, the support system of family and friends that you can normally depend on won’t be enough. They hold a special place in our hearts and they’re extremely important, but they aren’t the ones you need to get through a big life change like this.
Unpopular opinion incoming… your bestie, your auntie, your ride-or-die, probably isn’t the one that can help you through this.
They want to keep us safe and they encourage us to play things safely. They know who we have been and have a hard time imagining us in another way.Who we are now feels safe and comfortable to them, and they may benefit in some way from keeping things the same. They can only support us as far as they have done their own work.
It’s really scary embarking on big newness all alone. In this episode, you’ll meet the cast of characters that will try to blow out your flame:  Cautious Cathy, Never-brave Nancy, Dumbfounded Debbie, Gloomy Gretchen, Everyone Evelyn, Terrified Tammy, the twins Proxy Patricia and Positive Peggy, and Me-Me Mimi. Some, or even all, of these will sound familiar to you.
We are the product of the company we keep. We need to intentionally cultivate friendships in people who will protect your light.

    Big Change Besties

    Big Change Besties

In the last episode we explored the idea that your closest family members and real-life besties are probably not the ones to help your business grow. Who is, then?
You need people in your circle that are either going through the same transitions you’re going through, or are on the other side of them. You need people who will cheer you on just like you cheer them on. One of the best business relationships you can have is with a coach.
Not all coaches are built equal. There are some sketchy coaches out there and because of them, I know the kind of coach I want to be. What does that mean for you?
